Shawnee River Girl
Song #115,
Composition date: 11/24/1988
Commentary Date: 12/3/2007

Commentary:
I wrote this song on my 4th wedding anniversary (1st marriage) but it's about my 1st girlfriend. Ninth Grade...She was bossy and self assured. Worldly beyond my comprehension. I never had a chance! :o)

Shawnee River Girl          11/24/1988

I used to love, like the stars above

My Shawnee River Girl

We would go walking

Did not do much talking

It was like we lived outside the world

We were diamonds

Liquid Mercury on the road

Early Spring time

We were too young to be so bold

You pulled me to you

I simply did what I was told

I used to love, like the stars above

My Shawnee River Girl

We would go walking

Did not do much talking

It was like we lived outside the world

I wonder where you've gone

I wonder who lights your cigarettes now

I wonder if you're torn

I kind of doubt that somehow

You turned me on to Marijuana

And you taught me how to steal

You turned my head and led me to bed

But you never taught me how to feel

I used to love, like the stars above

My Shawnee River Girl

We would go walking

Did not do much talking

It was like we lived outside the world
